Founded during the first year of COVID-19, when minority veterans and service members were disproportionately impacted by the pandemic and knowing that challenges continue to persist, the Winter Wish Project provides critical support to families during the winter.
Winter Wish Project offers:
A little extra support for minority veterans who could use it for themselves and their families during the winter months. Applications open in November and close in December.
If selected after the application process, we’ll order up to $250 in items for you and your family from your Amazon wishlist and have it shipped to your home. Priority will be given to new applicants, but past Winter Wish Project recipients are welcome and encouraged to apply.*
*Please note, those who have received support twice in the past are ineligible.

Is priority given to certain applicants?
Yes. Priority is given to those who have not received Winter Wish Project support or Flexible Financial Assistance in the past. Priority is also given to single parents of children 23 and under still residing at home.
What is the application process?
Applications should be submitted by the veteran or service member. Once the application is received, a Minority Vets staff member will review it and reach out to the applicant to let them know whether or not they have been accepted to the program.
How do I support a family?
Each year in November, Minority Vets opens a Giving Tuesday fundraiser dedicated solely to supporting the Winter Wish Project. For every $250 raised, we can support a family.

When the fundraiser is launched in November, a link to support will be listed on this page. 100% of funds raised from Veterans Day through December 5th support the Winter Wish Project. Donors may contribute publicly or anonymously.
